Workshops for Teenagers

Aliyah constitutes as a major life transition that shakes the ground we stand on. It strikes at the core of our being, the very sense of who we are, our values and perceptions.

For teenagers the transition is particularly difficult. Adolescence in itself is a vulnerable period, a time of searching and forming a personal identity. Some of the struggles teens face are a normal part of growing up, like dealing with peer groups, experimenting with new ideas and behaviors, going through changes in mood and interests, a need of belonging, and striving towards independence. These normative issues are intensified by the demands of adjusting to a new environment and being caught in a situation of simultaneous developmental and socio-cultural transitions.

Group work has been recognized for its usefulness in working with teenagers because of their tendency to associate in groups. The group provides a safe space where they can share and examine their feelings and offer support to each other.

The workshop consists of 6 weekly sessions and focuses on the teens' own experience of Aliyah and it is designed to strengthen their coping skills and build their self-esteem
